A high degree of intelligence yes in no other creature in the natural world. That's why nature shuns us and why we subconsciously hate her and seek to obliterate her. High intelligence leads to the concept of progress. Progress leads to nuclear weapons, bio-engineering chaos and ultimately to annihilation.

About This Quote

The concept of progress is a very interesting one and we often tend to feel we are living in the most advanced stage of evolution. We seem to be constantly improving and evolving, moving forward and further away from an earlier age. That’s the idea of progress, that we are better than our ancestors, as well as better than our children will be. However, the truth is that we are advancing at a slower pace than ever before.

Today, we still use the same tools as our ancestors thousands of years ago. The idea of progress is a very human one and has been used for centuries by those who wish to take credit for their own success and minimise their own failures. The idea is that we have become so much more evolved than our ancestors and we have progressed so far that we should not feel bad about the things we do not like or do not understand.

This way of thinking is dangerous because it gives us the opportunity to take credit for things that were done by others before us and also to attribute all our successes to ourselves even when they may have been achieved by someone else. And, if you look back through history you will always find examples where technological advancements were used to kill people instead of to help them.
